CORNERSTONE Project Lodge Considerations

If your lodge is discussing whether to commit to this year-long journey here are some important items to consider as well as:

  • Your lodge should establish a CORNERSTONE Committee.  The committee may consist of a chair, the Worshipful Master, the Wardens, and a secretary whose charge will be to collect the data, assemble the documents, and complete the application;

  • Communication is extremely important among the committee and frequent update meetings are vital to keep all committee members informed of the progress is crucial to success.

  • The lodge members should be periodically informed of the progress and this may be done at Committee of General Purposes meetings;

  • The time which will be involved should be thoughtfully and thoroughly analyzed by the committee before committing to enter into the project;

  • If your lodge determines you wish to pursue the “CORNERSTONE Lodge” designation you should be aware of the time it will take in following through completely with the process;

  • The District Grand Lodge contact is an important source of information and is the direct conduit to the Grand Lodge CORNERSTONE Project Team, should issues or questions arise which need clarification;

  • Before submitting the application, convene a CORNERSTONE Committee meeting so as to solicit feedback and finalize the documentation and application prior to submitting it to Grand Lodge Project Team for evaluation.

Good luck as your lodge contemplates this wonderful opportunity.  If you would like to ask specific questions the CORNERSTONE District contact (V. W. Bro. Don Bergman, or Bro. Craig Wolverton, Shuniah Lodge No. 287,  V. W.  Bro. Bergman is available to meet with individual lodges and has a Powerpoint presentation he would be pleased to share with your membership.
