Wor. Bro. Mark Kusznier

2010

Mark Max Kusznier was born May 6, 1968 in Port Arthur, Ontario second child of three boys born to Olga and the late Constable John S. Kusznier. Raised in Thunder Bay, he attended St. Andrews, St. Ignatius and Lakeview High Schools.

He found that he had a real aptitude and passion for the field of electronics and decided to make his passion his career.  Mark attended RCC in Toronto graduating as an Electronic Engineering Technologist.

Knowing he wanted to enter the medical field, Mark set his sights on a career with McKellar Hospital where he was hired in 1992 as a Biomedical Engineering Technologist. Mark was almost immediately placed in the Renal Services Department at McKellar and handed the responsibility for the care of the dialysis life support equipment.

In the 18 years he's been at the hospital, Mark has been instrumental in the extensive growth of the Renal department and development of the new facilities of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, as well as both satellite units in Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances and most recently the development and implementation of the Home Hemodialysis program.

Mark has volunteered his time and talents over the years to coaching hockey and football, and sitting on the executive of the Thunder Bay Minor Football Association. He is currently working with the 2011 Winter Special Olympics as a director.

Married to his wonderful wife Melissa (nee Tilbury) in 1992, they have two great children, Max who is 16 and in grade 11 at St. Ignatius and a Sergeant with the Thunder Bay Police Youth Corps, and Molly who is 11 and in grade 6 at St. Margaret School is a junior curler and an Patrol Leader in her Girl Guide troupe.

Mark is a proud Mason and has been very diligent and meticulous as he's gone through the chairs preparing for becoming Master of the Lodge. Mark is looking forward to his upcoming year in the Masters chair and down the road to Port Arthur Lodge's Centenary Celebration.
